Online surveys
Online surveys help to reveal strengths and weaknesses of a current product, understand user goals and expectations.

Surveys results are statistically significant. They describe the audience profile (gender, age, income, etc.) or preferences (eg.what version of the page they prefer). This method is useful to understand how the users interact (or would interact) with the product in real life.
Depending on the survey objectives, usually raw data and outline.
Week or more. Usually recruitment is the least predictable part (if the required demographic is specific it may take additional time to gather enough data).
